In etwas mehr als einem Monat, in der Nacht vom 26. auf den 27. Februar 2012, wird im Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles der begehrteste Filmpreis der Welt verliehen. Dann vergibt die Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science zum 84. Mal die Oscars für besondere Leistung innerhalb der Filmbranche. Heute wurden bei einer großen Pressekonfereng in Hollywood die Nominierungen in den 24 Kategorien bekannt gegeben….

I have always loved this song but found it hard to play it out in the clubs due to its tempo – so here’s an edit of it for you all to hammer out in your DJ sets! I’ve pushed the tempo a bit, rearranged parts of the original to create more build-ups, added extra drums and fx, a new bassline plus a completely new synth hookline, and generally fattened it up a bit for the club. Hope you like it, constructive feedback much appreciated!

Nach den enormen finanziellen Erfolgen von Keinohrhasen, Zweiohrküken und dem im Ton sehr ähnlichen Kokowääh kommt die Nachricht nicht sehr überraschend. Blickpunkt:Film berichtet, dass der deutsche Chef von Warner Bros. Willi Geike die Produktion von Kokowääh 2 bestätigt hat. Die Dreharbeiten werden diesen Herbst beginnen und der Film, der mit an Sicherheit grenzender Wahrscheinlichkeit mal wieder alle deutschen Rekorde brechen wird, wird im Februar nächsten Jahres in den Kinos anlaufen. An welchem Handlungsstrang die Fortsetzung anknüpfen wird, ist noch nicht bekannt…

We have been compiling various remixes from the Divergent Spectrum tracklist, and decided to put together a free pack of a few favorites. Keep on the look out for other versions from a multitude of friends and artists as they drop out of various corners the digital sky.

Although it’s intended mostly for DJs (each track is on the harder edge of the spectrum, targeting dancefloors and flash mobs of bass heads who want to rage) we wanted to make it available to anyone and everyone, for free.

Wieder hat RTL II zugeschlagen und sich einen US-Straßenfeger ins Programm geholt. Noch in diesem Jahr will der Privatsender die US-Erfolgsserie Game of Thrones ausstrahlen.

In den USA hat Game of Thrones voll eingeschlagen. Die erste Staffel der Fantasy-Serie zog Millionen Zuschauer vor die Fernseher. In Deutschland konnten Abonnenten von TNT die Serie bereits sehen, nun hat – wie serienjunkies berichtet – RTL II die Fantasyserie gekauft und will sie noch in diesem Jahr ausstrahlen….

Im August 2009 machte ein Gerücht die Runde, dass es zu einer Fortsetzung des Superheldenfilms Hancock mit Will Smith kommen sollte. Danach war es still um ein Sequel und es herrschte auch Stillstand bei den Plänen von Will Smith. Der ehemalige Kassenmagnet blieb im Hintergrund als Produzent, er war einfach nicht auf der Leinwand präsent. Aber wie heute hitflix berichtet, scheinen sich die Verantwortlichen endlich wieder mit dem Hancock-Thema zu befassen….

Dark and grimey, Gritlock’s “Ultrakill” starts off on an ominous melodic note and quickly descends into an all out rhythmic assault of incredibly filthy, deeply mechanical synths. Constant variation maintains a strong forward momentum that carries the listener through the cavernous and haunting interlude, all the way to the arrival of the second, even more frenzied and explosive drop. Gritlock clearly has his style pegged and has excelled marvelously with this massive darkstep banger.

Hangover Sessions #12 completes a season, a whole year guided by Aka Tell´s DJ-mixes. So it´s time to look back, reflect and think about the future. And, of course, to bring another 60 minutes of the latest dancefloor tracks.

More than one person honestly told me one year ago, that they don´t believe I will even make it through half a year with my monthly “Hangover Sessions”. Not because they did not believe in my love for music – I have proven that hundreds of times since I started DJing back in the 90ies. But it is honestly a lot of work with running the label and performing live and I have been away from home a lot within this year, which makes it really hard to keep up the monthly schedule. And considering that, and maybe because they think of me as a lazy and unstable person or so, some people just did not think I will do this monthly thing too long. Well, in your face.
In this past year I reinforced my love for DJing, found my love for areas of electronic music I did not expect, and became an even bigger dj-technics nerd than I was before.
Feedback on my mixes overwhelmed me. People not only listend to the “Hangover Sessions”, they analyzed them and told me things even I did not realise about them. And some DJs told me that they use my mixes as a monthly shopping guide. Something I did not make too easy, I guess.
The musical style of the “Hangover Sessions” is now different than it was with the early editions. Some people keep asking for more hard electro style and stuff, others like to go the way with me. When I started last year I did not have any plans to make another “this is the state of electro” mix-show or anything alike. I just wanted to play dance-tracks I liked during the last 30 days. Without any limits but my own taste. Well, I kept doing this and besides that a lot of changes happened in the dance-scene and during this year also my own style developed. But I still think that my mixes are a valid picture of how parts of the scene grew within this year.
This “my favorite tracks” approach also results in very varied mixes that might be a bit too diversified for 60 minutes on a dancefloor. But I never intended to do monthly DJ promo mixes but consider the “Hangover Sessions” more like a kind of a radio show. Nevertheless I have to admit that my DJ sets in clubs also became more varied during the last season – the “Hangover Sessions” even influenced my own DJing.
And it seems as I am not the only one, who sees this radio show approach. The “Hangover Sessions” will now be broadcast monthly on radio FRO in upper-austria during the “E-Verteiler” radio show.

And of course the artwork. When I asked my friend mnd_ if he had some photos that could fit for my new podcast a year ago it only took him hours to select some shots from the great “down by the law of gravity” series he did back in 2006. We both were overwhelmed about the awesome reactions we got for the artwork and so I wanted to give the photos a lap of honor by printing a 2012 calendar with them – which was also a big success. For the next season mnd_ decided to do some new photos, continuing the concept of the first set of shots but going a bit further. I am as curious about them as you and really looking forward to them.

Great feedback, more than 15000 plays only on soundcloud (not considering the iTunes podcast and of course the downloads) and even the haters were not that annoying – I guess this was a successful year. What will come next? I don´t know, but I will go on with my monthly mixes for some time. Just because I am too curious about what will happen next!

Aka Tell´s Hangover Sessions is a series of monthly dj mixes. For one hour Aka spins the tracks that he loved most, that influenced him or about that he really had to say some words during the last few weeks. Every mix is accompanied by an article on discodemons.net in which he is disclosing thoughts, stories and anecdotes about that mix, the last month and DJing in general.
Aka Tell is a member of the electro house act A.G.Trio. Together with Andy Korg he heads the austrian electro house label Etage Noir Special. He has been active as a DJ for more than 10 years. Aka Tell lives in Vienna, Austria.

Ein Jahrzehnt, nachdem Perseus (Sam Worthington), der Halbgott-Sohn von Zeus (Liam Neeson), den Kraken besiegt hat, sehnt er sich nach einem ruhigen Leben als Fischer in einem kleinen Dorf und möchte sich ganz der Erziehung seines zehnjährigen Sohnes Helius widmen. Doch unterdessen tobt ein Krieg um die Vorherrschaft auf dem Olymp zwischen Göttern und Titanen. Die Götter verlieren zunehmend die Kontrolle über die eingesperrten Titanen und deren Anführer Kronos, dem Vater von Zeus, Hades (Ralph Fiennes) und Poseidon (Danny Huston). Als Hades einen Putsch gegen Zeus plant, um mit Kronos’ Hilfe die Herrschaft an sich zu reißen, muss Perseus erneut in den Kampf ziehen und zusammmen mit der Kriegerkönigin Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Poseidons Halbgöttersohn Agenor (Toby Kebbell) und dem gefallenen Gott Hephaestus (Bill Nighy) in die Unterwelt hinabsteigen, um seinen Vater zu retten und die Titanen endgültig zu bezwingen.
